Spring is here following one of the wettest winters on record and we’re glad to see the sunshine!  The team has been as busy as ever in Q1 2026 and we’re excited to share the latest updates here as we look ahead to the rest of 2026.

Read on to find out about:

  • New solar arrays installed
  • Solar performance in the last three months
  • Our solar competition
  • Our trips out and about this quarter
  • Fuelling Greater Manchester

NEW SOLAR INSTALLATIONS

During the Easter holidays, we installed solar arrays for the two sites at Springwood Primary School that we were fundraising for in 2025.  This brings our total number of sites to 12 across four Greater Manchester boroughs.

Solar performance

Our existing solar arrays continue to perform strongly. The latest numbers from January-March 2026 are:

  • 83,500 kWh generated, enough to make 4.6 million cups of tea
  • An estimated 31 tonnes of carbon saved

Solar competition

In February, we launched our solar competition where a Greater Manchester charity could win up to £10,000 towards a brand new solar array for their building – potentially vital help at a time when commercial energy rates are going up and up.

We received some fantastic award entries and the winner will be announced shortly!

out and about this quarter

Our team attended two major events in Greater Manchester this quarter – the Tameside Climate Action Conference and the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Green Summit.

We engaged with community groups, public sector partners and local businesses at these events to spread the word about what we do and how we are making our region a greener, healthier and more sustainable place to live and work.

Fuelling Greater Manchester

In partnership with Carbon Co-op, we also organised the Fuelling Greater Manchester networking event.

We heard from Carbon Co-op about their newly released report on the Community Energy sector in Greater Manchester, and also gathered a few good ideas for what people want to hear at the next meetup, which should happen around June.
