We’ve officially closed our fifth community share offer.

We’ve successfully raised over £160,000 to fund three more solar arrays at two schools in Salford and a school in Manchester.

Your investment will help them to save money on their energy bills and reduce their carbon emissions, as well as inspiring more climate action.

You’ve helped fund our project by buying shares in GMCR. The minimum investment is just £100 if you’re a Greater Manchester resident, or £500 otherwise. If you wish, you can invest up to £50,000.

By buying shares, you’ll become a member of GMCR and receive share interest of up to 5% per annum from 2027, subject to the financial performance of the Society.

We’re planning to install over 400 solar panels at three schools – here’s what the solar arrays at two of the schools could look like:

By investing in GMCR, you’ve made a positive difference to the community and the environment, as well as earning a return of up to 5% per year.

Across our 14 sites, we estimate that your investment will help us generate:

• 860,000 kWh of clean, green electricity each year, saving around 320 tonnes of carbon dioxide in the first year alone;
• combined energy bill savings for the sites of £480,000 over the life of the project;
• a Community Fund of £425,000 to fund eco-friendly projects in the local community.
